For fish from local store I always drip for about 2 hours to acclimate for salinity. For mail order fish that has been in the bag for a long time I will prepare a tank with matching salinity. I think this is important to avoid any shock to the fish.
You really should measure the nitrate and phosphate levels when carbon dosing. At the beginning you would need to measure every couple of days and record the measurements and dosages. Also know that the it takes some time for it to kick in.
The tank protector is like gutter guard but plastic. Same size holes about 3/8". You can see it at east coast diving center in morganville. It should be rigid enough to stand on its own if you arch it in the overflow.
Same for enkramat.

I am diving in st Lucia right now. Two days ago we had lion fish for dinner it was fantastic. Very tender meet and not fishy at all. Yesterday one of the guys brought a spear and we killed 15 of them.
I use the same recipe and I know I got it from Reefcentral. It works very well for me. I have cyano sometimes but it's not a big issue for me. Otherwise tank is thriving.
Paris will be great for celebrating anniversaries. You can spend the whole week there. October is great time to go. My wife and I are going to southern Spain in October.
