Are corals net producer or consumer of nitrate

Read this 3 times. So the zooxanthellae will only get nutrients from the coral if I understand corrected. But the second paragraphs seems to imply that the zooxanthellae will also obtain nutrients from the water directly thus competing with the coral for nutrients. This is a little confusing...

Imo tank is cheap compare to other equipment. I bought mine from trops. Most of the used tank are scratched up. Get the stand used. They charge you an ARM and leg at the lfs. Patient is key when buying used. Only buy used but good stuff. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2

    Reduce Splashing in Sump

I think the goal is to get a very coarse material so the small particles will escape but the air bubbles can't. If you cut a few holes in the bottom then some water/air bubbles will escape then surface, causing turbulance at the surface. I have used 200 micron socks before it takes a long time...

    Reduce Splashing in Sump

Paul I know if someone coming up with something it has to be you. Going to try this out. Do you have the bottom of the 3" pipe sitting on the bottom of the tank or the rocks? It doesn't have to be plugged, right?

    Reduce Splashing in Sump

What is the best way to setup the drain pipe to minimize splashing in the sump? I have about 600gph going down a 1" drain. Right now I am running the drain below the water line without a filter sock. Any ideas?

    Joe's Really Slow Progressing Build

It's time for a quick update. The tank has been running since 6/17, for 2 and half weeks. I added a pair of clowns in there to test the water. I decide to get a used T5 lighting from Tommyboynj, 1. because it's cheap 2. it's proven and 3. I will have time to figure out which lighting I really...

Repair or not? DIY help also

You can search for mirror, glass etc in the yellow pages or online for your area. That's how I found mine. My glass was cut very well and you can choose what kind of polished edge you want. For glue, one tube of aquarium silicon should be enough and you can get it from most of LFS.

    Which Reactors to Run

Looks like I will setup them both. I am adding equipment to the tank. I will build a manifold for the return to have 3 additional outlets. One for GFO/Carbon, One for biopellets and one for maybe UV or anything else.

    Which Reactors to Run

Tank is brand new and there are only two little clowns in it.

    Which Reactors to Run

If you run biopellets, do you still need to run GFO and Carbon? If you setting up a new tank which would you install/run first or both?

    New 75 gallon tank build

They do this for free. I asked them whether the glass will be Sharp to the touch and they said no. There are special polish jobs but you won't need it. If you have the glass professionally cut you should ask them how much it cost to drill the holes. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
