I use the Foscam FI8918w. It's afforable and does the job. I got it last September before I went on vacation. It has an app for Android also, worked well for my GS3 and HTC One.

breakout box. possibilities are endless. you can also get a pressure sensor like the ones avast marine uses, more expensive than the float sensor but more depenendable. I'm currently using the DA switch. I only bought one and got another float switch seperately since one bracket can hold two...

I'll keep the fudge with the sand bed. seems like Tristans approach with the cuc could help in regulating the debris that collect down there. if worse comes to worse, wet dry vac comes out. lol I appreciate everyone's input.
