you should spread it out within acouple of days, one big dose and a sudden change in alk can makes things worse for your corals. as far as the DIY route with baking soda, I do believe you have to bake it. let me see if I can find that DIY two part link.

try using another test kit, I use hanna checkers for quick checks. try to pick up a salifert/red sea PO4 kit. The hanna checkers can be buggy sometimes.

definitely! I never treated with copper was thinking about it but felt too risky for me. I stick with observe and feed while in QT I have a Seachem Copper test kit somewhere that I've never used. I'll you know if i find it when i get home.

i would say this has to do more with your parameters. i had the same thing happen to my red cap when my alk/cal was extremely low.

cherry charms, they love light and usually only show their amazing colors under high light exposure.

I would start out with 30%/20% for the first week then gradually increase the by 5% every week till you see find a sweet spot that your corals like. I Have my units at 12" above the waterline on my frag tank 40b and have never had them over 50%/50% at any time.
