Clams, The Best Food for your Reef

Looks delicious, I had that for dinner last night. But if you left out the scallops and shrimp, it would be a much more nutritious food. Those table shrimp are only the muscle as are the scallops and have little nutrition for fish. The clams are really all you need. The Salmon isn't bad but...

Clams, The Best Food for your Reef

Ben, that is to long an answer to post here, but I wrote a thread about it and have been posting about it for years and wrote a book. You can read about immunity here. A discussion on Immunity

Clams, The Best Food for your Reef

You can buy clam cubes but we don't always have to feed something from an LFS with a nice picture of an anglefish on the front. Those commercial foods are frozen to a much lower temperature than out home freezers so I would assume most of the bacteria is dead which you may like. I want living...

Clams, The Best Food for your Reef

I also found this while researching. It came from "The Paleo Diet" which is probably not the most scientific of research organizations but I am pretty sure the list of nutrients was devised by some Government source. (or PeeWee Hermans diary) Of course these values are for people. "The Paleo...

Clams, The Best Food for your Reef

I am sure mussels are also very good but I don't have any nutrition facts on them. They are also much cheaper than clams as many people don't like to eat them. I eat them but prefer clams or oysters

Clams, The Best Food for your Reef

Clams, the absolute best food for salt water fish The title says it all. If I could only feed one type of food, it would be regular, common, cheap, (near the coasts of the US) available, clams. I myself feed clams almost every day to all my fish and have been since the 60s. Virtually all the...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Very hard to film a very pregnant bluestripe pipefish because in that condition they stay in the rocks. But I tried. These guys are always pregnant.

Tomorrow about 6:00 I will be speaking at the Chocolate Factory in Riverhead on 58. It is going to be about Viet Nam, not fish which is my favorite topic. But I was asked to speak about this so if anyone wants to go to sleep, come by. I didn't get top billing, I am behind a few people from a...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I just spent a week trying to get a drug approval for my wife who has MS. To use the "Simple, Government website" you have to be Houdini and he is dead. I finally got someone on the phone after waiting an hour on hold and he said no one can figure it out. Like Duh. That is because they hire...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I would like to get another circulation pump because this tank is bigger than my last one but I don't like what I see. I really don't like Korilia's because they are really cheaply made and get covered in growth to fast. I like the Gyre's but they are all programmable and I don't want to or...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

I have a few fish that I have never seen the entire fish at one time. I once had a brutela or cusk eel for 18 years and only saw it maybe three times and that's when I looked at the tank in the middle of the night with a flashlight. I killed it by accident when I removed the rock and didn't...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Yesterday I was looking at my tank which I sometimes do. And I couldn't find my pair of bluestriped pipefish. OMG. So I figured the Janss pipefish killed them like he did to my last ones and I figured maybe some babies escaped from this horrible demise. I got my magnifying glasses on and...

    What am I doing wrong

This is how most problem threads begin. By using all sorts of chemicals to combat something that is not a problem, but the treatment is. Those things you are adding all have side effects which in combination could make things seem worse. Seawater is very stable if you don't mess with it. I...

    No, Thank you. :D

    Gluing pvc

There is no good glue that will glue nylon to PVC so my guess was it was a sealing compound like we use on gaskets. Permatex comes to mind.

    Gluing pvc

That white piece is also probably nylon and even if you wanted to glue it. PVC solvent would not work.
