Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Not necessarily, you could use a second pump to deal with the extra items. Note that extra equipment is not mandatory to run a successful reef tank.
But if your going for simplicity, just plumb your overflow to your sump, run a skimmer and some chaeto in your center chamber, if space allows for it
You can use tubing if that’s what you can afford to do but I would suggest getting braided tubing. Regular vinyl can kink and cause issues.
PVC will work too, just a matter of preference. Just remember to add unions and valves for when you dissemble for maintenance or add on-s
Both are good skimmers and should work for you set up. I think it would just come down to budget.
There are less expensive units out there that can be just as effective. @MarineDepot has a bubble Magnus on sale and it should work great on your system...
That’s steep, are your corals dying? If not I’d re-check your test kits
You’ll need to add small amounts daily to bump it back up. All at once will shock the livestock
The sodium bicarbonate should be all you need to add to bump up the Alk. What number are you shooting for?
You can also change salt mixes to keep that magic number higher
Remove the aerator on your faucet and screw in your intake line for your RO. Run the waste line down your drain
You can add it directly to your tank and add salt to it. Normally its around 1/2 cup salt per gallon of fresh water
they have buddy units you can look into https://www.marinedepot.com/Aquatic_Life_Twist_In_100_GPD_4_Stage_RO_DI_System_RO_DI_System-AquaticLife-AK01371-FIRORD-vi.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw3cPYBRB7EiwAsrc-uVvDqVgPMJ8MaD0Dtf8X3qV98OCH6R_rHE02vvzHIA2_sjdnKC4T5RoCB94QAvD_BwE
I'm not sure, I don't go there that often but I do know they are pricey.
you should be shooting for "0" TDS using a RO unit. Using Tap+Prime Im not sure as I have never used the stuff. I would Imagine that anything above 1TDS may be pushing it
Some folks have used tap water and Seachem Prime to de-chlorinate and have gotten by with using tap water. I wouldn't but it can be done
SeaLevel Aquarium and Absolutely Fish are probably the closest LFS I can think of to Bloomfield.
