    Inherited 90

Brandon, you’re welcome to it….just bring your own straw. I just sent ESV an email as well. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know.

    Inherited 90

Sunny, it’s not cold weather…..really, how cold is your basement….maybe 60? Anyway, where is the crack in your bucket? Mine is on the bottom, right on the injection molding point. Using a Sharpie, I put a line on the crack and circled it. I’m tempted to write a letter to ESV. This...

Five Gallon Bucket of Bionic Calcium Leaked!!! I went to refill the gallon jugs of Bionic from the source five gallon buckets I have in the basement. I went downstairs and found the calcium bucket had sprung a leak, and the solution evaporated, leaving the calcium on the floor. My guess is...

More the reason NOT TO GLUE that last connection into the sump. Here’s my plumbing entering the sump……no glue, just friction fit.

Skimmer opinions – Aqua C EV-180 vs PM Bullet II

Dave, the more I think about this, I’m not quite sure what you are attempting to accomplish. Now I have no idea how the Bubble Magnus NAC6 performs, but it is one of those new fangled cone skimmers that are the rage. Accordingly I’m not sure if you’ll see any difference with the choices you...

    Fishcam: Smile, you're on camera!

Sandee, I know it’s the real deal. I’m just pulling your leg. :) Again, that just amazes me……great find!

Skimmer opinions – Aqua C EV-180 vs PM Bullet II

That makes the choice pretty easy, because the Precision Marine is not an in-sump skimmer. Or let me put it this way, the water level must be below the exit port of the skimmer, which from the picture, looks like about 1 ½ inches.

I still can’t get over that. Just wild. Is that a black Sharpie Marker I see next to the tank? :o

    Obituary – Hippo Tang

My Hippo has gone to the big tank in the sky. When I picked this "rescue" fish up about three years ago, it was undernourished, with a thinned dorsal fin and a reticulated look in its skin. It ate and fattened up and acted normal the three years I had it, but never re-grew it’s dorsal, or lost...

    Spotted GSM

I like them! It’s just a touch of difference that was the result of natural genetic mutation. Very unique fish with class! However, in comparison, I can’t stand the man-made mutations, like the Wyoming…..I refer to these genetic abominations as f-ugly (pronounced fug-ly) fish. Again...

    Glass cleaning the lazy way

But one nice big grain of sand and you’ll know the path your little robot took that day, and every day thereafter (or every time it cleans), until you realize it has sand under the pad. :(

    Gurgling overflow

This is a Glass-Holes overflow…..a stand pipe will not fit or work in a Glass-holes. If you play with the tube coming out of the elbow, that could help. I think you are actually hearing the air/water cascade down the pipe. If you can’t figure it out, I’ll sell you one of my becketted...

Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

Meg, welcome! Might I suggest you start a "Tale of the Tank" to give us all the info and pictures of your tanks. Again, welcome and ask away if you have questions.

    Gurgling overflow

No valve! You say 1 1/2 pipe into the sump….is that rigid pvc or flex (flex would be the best because of subtle bends)? Are there 90 elbows – these add the likelihood of more noise….ideally 45’s work better.

    Computer Problem

My little Acer Netbook fell off the couch and the battery popped out. I put the battery back in and turn it on and this is what I found: The screen view had shrunk down about an 1 ¾ inches on the right and about ¾ inches on the bottom. To attempt to fix this (I have very limited...

    Plumbing Assistance

Additional comments on your line coming down to your sump from your overflow: 1. Put in a union somewhere on the back so that if and when you want to move the tank, or clean out a pipe, you can do it without having to cut it. 2. That last piece of pipe going into your sump; do NOT glue...

    Plumbing Assistance

Why is there a valve on the back of the tank? I wouldn’t put it there for two reasons….difficult to get to and the torque created when attempting to open or close the valve that close to the glass could crack the glass. Bring the valve down into the sump and put it there. This way you can...
