yeah unfortunately i love higher k bulbs i would have to have like 4 actinic bulbs under the hood with 65ks to get it looking any where nice for my liking.

for the t-5 i have 6 54 watt so its around 350 watts im not to sure if 175's would be strong enough but the 250 would be over kill cause it would be 500 watts.

yes good idea i wish metal halides wernt expensive to run i just want the shimmer but im stuck with t-5 cause its cheaper then running 2 250's

the little specs are smaller then grains of sand and they arent flat looking that i think you have nothing to worry about- they are probably some sort of pod.gl with the picture taking

tiny pods- if you have a sand sifter or a mandarine they will eat the right up and you wont see much of them anymore lol.

once and awhile i get a few of them sometimes the snails will do it to-if i pull them off they go right back so just leave them.

yeap figured out it had to be the trace elements or something was in the water that shouldnt be there- after doing 12 gallon weekly waterchanges everything poped back but this week i couldn't do a water-change- lots of stuff happening and the tank needs to run on its own for a week- you think...

coraline algea is kind of like corals- they need strong but to mcuh will cause it to bleach- i think a metal halides spectrum helps the coraline grow - while the t-5s just puts out to much of somesort of light that they dont like- in my caves theres coraline growing but what ever light hits is...

very nice i tip my hat to you- i wouldn't be able to settle with a bio cube or a small tank- even though my 75 gallon is to small for me already-

yeap the lights are whats contributing to the coraline growth- i used to have 15k 250watt metal halides then i move the rocks to a t-5 tank and all the coral bleached- if i throw the rock in the sump with a compact fluorescence bulb it will color back up or leave the rok in some sold saltwater...

the well the angel is up to you- after awhile he may start doing more noticeable damage to the corals and although corals polpys are always out more at night time than day the angel could be scaring the corals so they never let out there polpys. Purple up i dont think should be used to...

some sort of red macro algea- it grows in my sump and looks nice but if it goes up north the tangs will destroy it- for some reason it likes a lower spectrum like under 10k
