Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
smashers are typically much much smaller than the ones seen on the videos/youtube. You probably have one of the ones from the atlantic. I had a shipment of LR once that had 5 or 6 of them in there...because my tank wasn't set up - it was just about finding the LR, and squirting some RO water...
that's really "NORTH" of jersey....;)
the AWI RODI is a great great piece of equipment. Love mine.
That's pretty amazing you have a full blown reef and have a big predator like an eel (albeit in a connecting tank). Good luck!
People like this make me incredibly angry because I have friends who battled (and are still battling cancer) and this fraud just goes to show how desperate/crazy people can be.

I use brightwell kalk +2 via a GB purchase...but in a reactor. I don't have any of the build up you're referring to. The Tunze ATO pushes water into the reactor- so the ATO is not sitting in the solution - is that where you dump the kalk?
did you ever decide on the Kalk equipment? Those things are pretty big...i use a PM kalk but that was only because we had a GB on them years ago. It's connected to my tunze ato and has a powerhead to stir the kalk.
I'll raise my hand and just say if you plan on sps tank - a deep sand bed will inherently conflict with the idea of high flow in the tank.
Marc L has some great ideas if you want to check his site out in texas:

if an LFS doesn't have something - some club member may - or better yet the club is conducting a group buy with a big online retailer. Have you considered signing up to become a member of the club? It's a small fee but helps to offset the cost of the operations for this club. Maybe come to a...
I like that author (randy) a lot - here's a different article on the same subject. You appear to be in zone 2....but it puzzles me because you have a calc reactor. Maybe it's not tuned right?

beautiful fish. Are they reef safe? For a hard coral display - As far as I know almost all angels (japanese swallowtails and may one or two others that elude my mind) are going to pick at your corals. A Niger Trigger will consume mobile invertebrates. So if you are ok with replenishing your...
Yes - 20 years ago wet dry were state of the art. I remember installing one of those along with a UGF. They have a function and place for FO tanks but not so much for reef tanks today. You could take the same box, dump the bio balls and use the space for a refugium. But you're better off...
