75 Gallons of Entertainment! The build begins...

you would take the hose and attach it to the waste collector. The thing is designed to be placed outside the sump but you could put it in your sump and there would be no risk of the waste going back into the display. The acrylic container is interesting but i'm concerned that if you open the...

75 Gallons of Entertainment! The build begins...

if you have the cash - maybe you could find one of these: http://www.myreefcreations.com/Waste-Collectors I use an MRC2 Collector. Basically if the skimmer goes crazy by accident and fills the thing up - the air is cut-off and the skimmer stops skimming. This prevents any kind of flood.

    My Oceanic Tech 120

Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input. Sorry I had to laugh when I read this.... Dang on the shark-nose. I am surprised you even found them given how big they are and what they'd probably be like shriveled up. Your corals look so fantastic. Great mature tank. Is that a chalice in...

    Clownfish Log

This was my attempt at a "FTS" a week ago: I lost quite a few between then and now - I really don't understand how I lost fry after day 3. I guess I was really really lucky on the first batch - or this time around I should have been more careful dosing phyto. Anyways - the good news is that...

75 Gallons of Entertainment! The build begins...

Wow that is a great update. Sorry I didn't see the post on manny earlier - With regards to fish like the mandarin - I would suggest (in the future) breaking from the QT and consider adding the fish in directly. As i understand it, the mandarin has a unique slimy coat (no scales) on it's body...

Need help locating container for ATO

Take a small drill bit and drill right into the top cover. The cord for the water is easily removable and you slid it right thru. The pump itself is connected to a $2 radio shack wire thingy. Get a screw driver and unscrew that - take the wires out and then voila you can thread that wire right...

    Where is everybody??

you try raising a family. a family of baby clownfish that is! ;) All they do is want you to clean the tank every day and feed them every day. Like I've got a green thumb with rotifers and brine shrimp or something!

Need help locating container for ATO

Congrats! They should have a registry and OGII/AqOb. ;) Though I'm sure the other half probably prefers crate and barrel or something or other. Decisions decisions... Speaking of which -The container store. Been there. It's more like a giant store for various ways to store your clothes/help...

Need help locating container for ATO

that is a really tight space to use. A 5 gallon salt bucket is 12 inches diameter. I would think you need at least that much room to handle 5 gallons. You could conceivably have it custom made I guess. I dunno - I'm just bummed I responded to the tunze package too late. hahah!

    Power Heads Who is best?

Magnets come with all the new tunze streams. But you are not comparing apples to apples. mp40 = a tunze 6105 The 7096 wavecontroller is totally different from what I understand the vortech controller does. With my 7096 I can: Sequentially launch my pumps one after the other Interval - so...

    Reef Safe Shark????

I guess i'll offer the yes to the shark but with caveats: my 2 cents: A 220 for an animal that barely moves around off the bottom of a tank seems fine as long as you have suitable substrate for the belly of the shark (and your tank isn't a fruitstand of LR with a small patch of sandbed). That...

    Moving sps colonies

is there a LFS nearby you could go to? I would think when they receive colony shipments they discard all that stuff used to ship the items safely. Maybe you could get that.

Thanks so much! GreshamH from reed mentioned the rotifgrow plus to me already. I'll see if someone can order that for me and i'll pick it up at the LFS.

    Clownfish Log

So the brineshrimp hatching goes great when the temp is at 80. I have no heater that small to place in a 2 liter bottle so I've been placing the entire contraption in a 5 gallon bucket and heating the bucket (thereby creating a bath). Well I decide I have a eureka moment and say - my sump has...

    Power Heads Who is best?

can't comment on the new versions - still using the old ones. :) I use the tunze products due to reliability. I have 4 phs (stream one), the nano wavebox, the multicontroller and the ato. I once accidentally got water on my transformer box for the ph and tunze replaced it free of charge. The...
