    In teh event of pump failure - the tank will not implode. Most of the in habitants do not rely on the sump pump for flow - hopefully you set up your tank such that the bulk of the flow is coming from the powerheads. A powerhead consumes far less electricity and you can set up a battery back up...

    to power the returns? an alternative to consider would be to get an external pump. A pair of 9.5s will definitely heat the tank a few degrees. Not that I would push you in this direction - but why two 9.5s instead of a single mag 18?
