you can run tanks without doing water changes...but going that route means that you're adding some form of trace elements to the tank in the form of dosing/Balling method....(which im going to assume you are not doing) so just topping off with plain spring water is not going to work. Your corals...

The testing could also be human error, so it would be great to get a second opinion.....in this case your lfs

Add plastic hose clamps to the connections, to avoid the metal ones rusting. Either shift over the sump a lititle to the left to make a drip loop or do what I did and add an outdoor outlet cover to your outlets. Also may wanna go gfi on those outlets.... Or you can just stick your finger in...

Have them test for salinity, amonnia and PH....this way those can get ruled out. As well as any other items you can test for at home

Maybe have your LFS test your water to see why they say. This way you don't have to buy test kits. Also what's your tank temp?

But how many other fish in total in the tank? Also what size is this tank again?

Any other fish inside your tank?

What about making it up to 3 gal, just in case there's a variance?

My smart ATO has been working great for me....the IceCap ato is nice i think @Mark_C has one and the smart micro, im guessing is the same as the normal unit....just smaller
