Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Worse case, if it tripped the ato after running, it may have dropped your salinity slightly......but nothing to where it would crash your tank. Test your salinity and see where you are with the protein skimmer on.
Red Sea has a colors kit that you can use to dose iodine (A).....which is what I use. I too put in a couple of drops in my tank after I do my weekly water changes. Seems to help but can't confirm.
The protein skimmer shouldn't have a drastic affect on your tank unless the unit is "oversized"...
Sure I'll take the kalk....thanx bud
For me, I've been using kalk since day 1 with no real Ill effects and with my small set up, it's easier to use rather then dosing....
not 100% fancy, the things with me, i DIY better when i have pictures. i was looking at maybe a shallow brute tub with an end drain, going into a larger brute tub underneath with a skimmer and a just a return pump
yea i was looking at that as well...that tub alone will run me about $100. i was also looking at hydroponic flood tables which were about half the price
yea i know, and im assuming that was the cause of my issues....aside from the dead fish.
what i did was premix a separate ato container with some fresh kalk....and added an additional tsp to the mix. so the previous container was 1tsp per 2gal of fresh water and the current is now back to its...
here's the tank parameters:
Alkalinity = yesterday 7dkh , today 8.57 dkh (i added some extra kalkwasser to my ATO)
Calcium = i didn't test yesterday as i was in rush to go to work but today its at 429
Ammonia = 0 using the API test kit
Nitrates = 0 using the API test kit so this could be off...
For a meet, I'd say that we plan around him. So if there's a month in particular that works best, we can set it from there. It just has to be after June
Dry rock would be cheaper...plus being that its dry you avoid adding pests to your tank among other things...you can always seed your tank with something.... like bottled bacteria or rubble from a fellow member. Dry rock also allows you to sculpt your rock work properly being that it can be done...
