Having an ato is key given the small water volume. Or, you can mark a water line on your tank so you can refill manually if you have to. Looking back a skimmer helps a lot, I would run a skimmer (like the IM ghost) with a filter sock and just ditch the purigen

Did that increase the cyano in your tank?

Have you checked ur nitrates and phosphates in your tank? With 2tds going in from your RO they may be something to look at

Same here, i swear this thing caused a Dino outbreak in my tank. Once I stopped it just went away over time
