My TDS going into the unit is roughly about 250+ as I've measured it before.

A couple of questions Did the unit come pre-assembled? Hoses n all? In the instructions booklet, did it mention what's the minimum psi amount that the system needs to function? Is it a color changing resin?

For that small piece, you could just place it into a bucket with a lid, add some fresh salt water, heater, pump and run it for a few weeks. It's kinda like doing a mini cycle. If you toss it directly into your tank, it could cause a mini cycle which you don't want
