If you noticed those silver bolts in the fixture, I went and replaced both ballasts with some ATI's from BRS 2x24W or 2x39W T5 High-Output Ballast - ATI . They were alot smaller and didn't fit into the existing holes, so i just poked some new ones in and bolted them down.

I like the coverage I'm getting with this light and the corals seem to be responding nicely to it. Time will tell
Can you move the piece to the other side of the tank? It may deter them from trying to host
There's no guarantee that they'll host a nem. Mine hosts my big chalice with a nem in the tank
If your current numbers aren't that far off from where your sweet spot is, I wouldn't go that much to start. I'd go about half that, this way you can test in between and adjust from there
so I'd say like 1 tsp per 2gal just to be safe as you can overdose the stuff
