Convert tank from FOWLR to Reef

It sounds like you are keeping the long tank in the basement and just converting it over to a reef tank. Usually the biggest difference in FOWLR to reef it lighting, so what is your plan for lighting the reef tank? Skimmer is common for both systems so that is not an issue for you. The next...

    Clean up Crew

Also keep us update. We did a little patchwork for now, we got some locally at Petco in Brick and ordered some from NYAquatic as part of a larger order. We will see if we need to fill in the gaps.

    Clean up Crew

Where is everyone getting their clean up crews now a days? With the local stores disappearing down here, we are either looking at a drive up north or ordering online. Anyone have any good experiences recently?

    Jawbreaker fragging?

I think they are in the 5-7 year range. We got them from reefco I think back when he just setup the store. Started with one and they have multiplied, but I have never fragged them. Have a few floating around the tank as well.

    Jawbreaker fragging?

Here are my jawbreakers. You can see the babies on the left and the color pattern is random.

    Jawbreaker fragging?

Yeah, I agree with the other, I have never cut them and I wouldn't recommend it. Colors are completely random and can take years to even come out.

    Frozen foods

Depends on how lazy I am feeling, usually we defrost but popping in a few cubes of mysis works well too.

    LFS you shop at

We live in Point Pleasant, so we feel you. We went from one of the best covered areas so not so much. Clean up crew is always tough and most people try and order online but even that has become harder over the years. For corals, check out Ultimate corals in Jackson, Mark is a good guy but I...

Apex vs Hydros. Salinity & PH

I am super new to controllers as this is our first one in 15 years of reefing, but we are running the Hydros PH to control our calcium reactor and really like it so far. Easy to dial in on the app.

    Smith Family IM 200EXT build

I just had Brian at reefco setup a new one for me so I took the guess work out of it. I am extremely happy with it though, my old one was not run off a controller or anything and we just adjusted it via the bubble counter. Now I have the hydros controller and a PH probe and that is how we set...

    Vodka Dosing

I find the more bourbon I dose on myself, the less I care about the algae.
