What fish/inverts do you have in the tank? There maybe something going after the polyps which keep them in during the day that is not there in the frag tank. What corals are we talking about here? What do you feed? Do you dose any coral foods?

So what union are you repping for the build?

People have been successful with it. If you are not a dose and test every day guy you can look at bio pellets which is essentially solid carbon dosing. The bigger question is have you tested nitrates and phosphates

You could probably get away with just one mp40 for the entire tank. You probably want to have it middle high so you don't disturb the sand bed and get the good gyro motion out of it.
