Yeah there are pages and pages of comments over on RC talking about the precipitate that you get with aqua vitro. I have been using it for a while and just consider it part of the salt. All the suggestions redfishbluefish made are spot on, it mixes in a pretty quick time so I am now doing...
Honestly I have never done it myself, I am just going on what other have followed. I know there is talk that the Kent Tech M has something in it that kills the bryopsis, that is why the BW mag did not work. I think the faster you get the Tech M in the better. Good luck.
I know bryopsis can grow in a zero nutrient environment, that is why it is such a hated thing. If your phosphates are zero and nitrates are zero, it can still grow so I don't think that having it die off on you would release so much nutrients that it could be negative to the tank. If you want...
Coral magazine comes out every other month and we buy every issue. We should probably just subscribe, but Trop carries it so we are in there quite a bit.
They might be right, I have always cured live rock with a powerhead and a heater. I might be overly cautious, but when I setup a tank I want to be overly cautious. I think we have learned time and time again that when you cut corners on the setup, you pay for it for a long time.
Dr. Tim or...
I have the swc 120 and love it. I think magic has the 160 and I believe there are more people out there with them. You might have to buy a heater though.
I would be real careful with that queen conch. First off they can get 7-9 inches long which would be way to big for your tank. They need a deep well established sand bed as well. I love conches but you really have to be careful of their needs.
This is why it is good to have multiple tanks, we have gone through the same with questionable reef safe fish. Our 57g has nothing questionable in it and we don't risk it.
I am no expert on skimmers, but I have both my return pumps just flow into the chamber with my skimmer. There is no bubble trap or filter socks and they seem to be doing just fine. I could be wrong, but I am ok with it.
