    Fish stocking advice

I have one tang now, wasn't sure if I should chance another. I like the hippo and the naso tang is kinda cool too. You think both tangs would be ok in the 90?

    Could I use a CPR Overflow CS50 on my 50g ?

hehe. Sorry. Didn't mean to corn-fuse ya. Basically the headloss is the loss of pumping ability the pump experiences by having to pump heights and distances. So a 600 gallon per hour pump may very well end up being as low as 300 or 400 gallons per hour depending on how high it has to pump the...

    Fish stocking advice

Don't the triggers get large? Like over 12 inches? The tank will only be a 90, which is 48"x18"24", I think. I eventually want to put together a custom 60"x30"x24", which is about 175 gallons, but that is a little ways off. I want to make sure whatever I get doesn't outgrow the tank too...

    LR question

There's a cheap easy way to get a small fuge on your system. Pick up an Aquaclear hang on back (the bigger the better, I used a AQ70 on my 30 gallon, but on the 55, I'd use the 110). You can usually get these pretty cheap on Ebay used and working. Clean it (obviously). Take the basket that...

    LR question

Sounds like a plan. Take a look at your tank at night with a flashlight covered with a red film. You'll see things moving! ;D Are you running a sump with a refugium? Getting some sand and chaeto from someone with an established fuge is a good way to get some extra life running around the tank too.

    Fish stocking advice

Ok, so I should have a 90 gallon coming soon, and I'm looking for some stocking advice. Right now, I have: 2 Tomato Clowns (about 1 1/2 to 2" each) 1 bi-color angel (about 2 1/2 to 3") 1 scopas tang (about 3 to 4" across) 1 as-yet unidentified wrasse (currently in isolation for a jumping...

What do you feed your angels?

Thanks Kenny. I may add that to the mix and see what happens. I've had him for a couple weeks now, I'm hoping he'll come around soon. Although, at least he's eating SOMETHING. ;D

Anbody use the american dj pc 100?

Anybody use these? I've seen alot of posts etc. about these things as power centers under tanks. Anyone have any personal experience with them? And are they really any different than the ones you can get for computer equipment? (other than the rack mountability?) I'm looking for a simple...

What do you feed your angels?

I know I have some pods in there, but I think I'm going to try to boost the pod count a bit. I recently put some really good chaeto in there from RichT, and I removed the pre-filter from my return pump so more of the pods would hopefully make it to the display tank.

What do you feed your angels?

Cool. I know he is afraid of the scopas tang. "Dr. Evil" tail wacked him pretty good the first day he was in the tank. Now the angel is getting a little braver, and "Dr. Evil" lets him out to swim. Funny, cause the clowns put the tang in his place when he came in, and the tang never went after...

    Could I use a CPR Overflow CS50 on my 50g ?

Hey Candi. Depends on what you want to do with the sump/refugium. If you are keeping macro algae in there, most recomend a lower flow anyway, so as long as your pump matched your overflow volume, you'd be ok. Be sure to calculate head loss of the plumbing to be sure the pump can keep up...

    LR question

I cure mine with light, but I agree with irradiatedreef, I always cure even the "cured" rock. I just monitor the water chemistry. If you have no smell (and believe me, you'd know if you did! LOL! PEE-UUUU!) then you probably will have a short cure time. When the ammonia and nitrite are zero...

What do you feed your angels?

Thanks TNT. I do feel a little better that I got him to eat the chaeto, and I do see him grazing nearly every time I'm near the tank. But, now that I think about it, he is still a bit skitish when I approach the tank. Hopefully he starts eating some other stuff soon. Until then, I'll keep giving...

What do you feed your angels?

So, I have this bi-color angel that is awesome. He has been the model citizen, and has not once picked on a zoa or shroom. When I got him, they told me he was eating the same mysid and formula b frozen that his tank mates were eating. Well, he isn't. He grazes all day long, but so does my...

    Copeopods?

Wow. I didn't even realize Dom carried those. Good info Carlo, I may pick some of those up on my next trip up to that area.

Be careful with your light fixtures

Scary thing is, my father was in the house today and saw the tank for the first time. First thing he asked me was "How on earth is it safe to have electrical cords running into a box of water?". I started to give some grand explanation, and then just said "Good point. I dunno." *shiver*
