Very nice thread, everything looks great.

+1 with not using the sand and just going out and buying new live sand. That sand is loaded with nitrates and probably sulfer dioxide. You need to rinse sand in saltwater until it is completely clean which is a lot of effort and a lot of saltwater plus you have to worry you did not get it all...

What kind of puffer is it? I know you say it is very timid, if I had to guess who was causing problems in your tank I would say puffer. Did you test ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates?

I am down, have really wanted to get up to Joe's aquarium as he has been down here for us several times.

Love the 20 tall, it was one of our first tanks. Good luck, looking forward to following the progress.

Put some pictures up if you can, it could be diatoms or dinos or cyano. Each can have a different path of action to rid them.

Looks really nice, I like the rockwork.

My first thought was algae too. We have had it in our 12 before, small red bubbles.

I have a couple of pics I took, of course when I pulled out the camera the battery was dead so I had to charge it. I will get them up tomorrow.
