75 Gallons of Entertainment! The build begins...

Be careful with those GSPs guys, they can become a problem. We started with this in march: This is august: Now it looks like this (and you cannot see the back of the live rock that is completely covered: Be careful if you have sensitive skin, it stung my wife's hand and has left a mark for...

Tim's 75G RR [Lots of Pics]

Without a doubt take a trip to Aquatic Obsessions, their sponsor page is down below. Great selection and reasonable prices. Ocean Gallery II is also another great one and in the same area along with Red Sand (I have never been there, only heard good things).

Where are you located? There are a lot of great fish stores depending on where you are and how far you want to drive.

Tek T5 HO vs LED Fixture

Any BULB longer than two feet, you can always ask. I know people have bought fixtures through them in the past, and it is free to ask to save some money.

Tek T5 HO vs LED Fixture

The Maxspect looks good, but I have not read any testing/par readings out of the fixtures. I know the G2 is using Cree XPGs so it should be ok. I know some people on RC just ordered some fixtures, but no one has any pics up. Don't forget abou the premium aquatics GB, they have the TEK hood...

    T-5 Lighting Opinions

You probably want to have a minimum of 6 bulbs. Also, poke around premiumaquatics.com they have some of the nicer fixtures (but they are more expensive). Also, we are having a group buy through them to save money.

    lighting question

What are the dimensions of the tank, and what do you have in your tank right now? Also, what types of SPS do you want to keep in the future? Have you looked into a T5 fixture? You can keep SPS with those and might not cause as many headaches (heat).

Burnt Tips now have algae growth......

I would cut the tips off, we had something similiar happen when a birdsnest fell into a torch. We cut that part off and it has been doing just fine.

    What algae is this?

If you are looking to clean your sandbed here is a good thread describing how to do it. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1790685&page=2

    What algae is this?

One of the bonuses of having a nano is cleaning is easy. We literally pulled everything out of the tank and put it in heated tanks and then drained the display. Then we rinsed the sand with saltwater until we saw no brown water. I know this is literally impossible to do with a larger tank, but...

    What algae is this?

What is your flow like in the tank? We had some in the 20g when we just had a koralia nano on there (which was not enough). Once we added the mp10 on there we never got them again. We also cleaned our sand bed around the same time which also helped.

Looks like you already have ammonia in your tank so I would just wait and be patient until it drops to zero. If you want to lessen the amount of time pick up some biospira which is bacteria. If you go through he nano thread here you will see all of our tanks.

The new rock work looks great. It might slow you down a bit at the beginning here to change the sand, but you just saved your self a ton of headaches further down the road. We had crushed coral in two of our tanks and replaced it after we already had live stock in the tank which was not fun.

    red algae

Sounds like you have cyano which is actually a bacteria but is still a PITA. Usually is the response of too much nutrients in the system.

You can pull them out at night with tweezers if you can grab them. Arrow crabs and dottybacks will eat them, but I would not recommend putting either into that small of a tank. The arrow crab maybe as a loaner, but once they go through your bristle worms they might turn on your snails yet.
