John M, If attending the meetings I can bring a couple easy corals for you. Green Star Polyps(GSP for short) and Violet Cespitualria.
Both are pretty easy to grow but recommend isolataing onto their own rock structure as they both do not easily cross sand. Otherwise if they do well in your tank...
I bought the 72 inch 4 bulb T5 with 2 blue 2 white
Ballasts both went. $75 for replacements for a pair.
Unit cost like $175 with shipping I think.
Was running minimally 5 months before ballasts blew out.
If you wanted to get the replacement ballasts i would take some corals in trade for it. LMK
Yes. Peppermint shrimp are sometimes good aiptasia eaters. Hit or miss from everyone I speak with. File fish, banded butterfly fish and Berghia Nudibranch are also used as aiptasia/majano anemone control.
How did the transfer go?
Your event did make me consider my actions if something went bad... I have plenty of options but nothing that I could quickly or easily set up. So will be working to remedy that shortly.
I have a 210 Oceanic. Well made. Does have the thick eurobrace(glass middle top) which is a pain, but does offer more support.
I have had other large store bopught tanks...aqueon marineland and materials are not as good quality.
I have them in a cross flow area. Obviously not changing the pink location as it feeds well with coral candy or other and is getting growth. S[ril will be two years with the pink.
May try putting the green in a calmer area next. see how it responds.
I have a pink Goniopora that I have had for a year and a half. Initially I had some receeding but since then I have actually had not only polyp multiplication but I can clearly see the flower pot base has grown. I picked up a smaller(mini) neon green goniopora and placed it in a similar spot...
You can drain the tank down on a water change day and use a kit to polish the area. Only word of caution performing scratch removal on a full or partially full tank is if you use a power tool and the glass became too hot it could break. There are you tube videos on doing a partially full tank...
