From what I understand yes.

Kinda, I have marine pure crammed in skimmer compartment, plus the sand in fuge section gets so dirty so quick and there no real good way to clean other than replace. So now my big block of marine pure is in fuge section and skimmer area is nice and open. Plus it's clean.
