Algae is going to grow better in the white light vs blue. So will make sense that if you lower the whites you will have less algae.

Welcome aboard. 1) Crushed coral is not usually an accepted idea but some make it work. I think preference is what should guide you here. Some go bare bottom(in the tank I mean) and some like me have a deep sand bed with very fine sand ... and everthing in between. 2 Depends on T5 setup ...I...

I know I know ...don't have anything at work, but I know people were discussing macro lenses and this is the first time in a year + that I have seen it on sale anywhere.

Thanks got the lens already. It is pretty nice and for price point I think it is about as good as you can get. Obviously if you pay more you will get more but added in to the Nikon 3000 series packages it makes sense as it fills in the macro lens to go with standard and zoom.

Nikon finally put the low end macro lens on sale....still going on FYI also is at BandH. Now I have to get some skill haha...

Should have said the proverbial sand bed....in any case you get the point. Looks great.

Looks great just make sure you have room between the front glass and the rocks. First for a glass scraper and second for frags and stuff you want to see and put on the sand bed.

Nice design. I know at least one person who had a display fuge above his tank. I don't see any problems with your design. Since you have planned everything downstairs you won't have a large height to push the water, in tank pumps will help with water flow.
