I just picked up a Jager heater for my tank to replace a different brand that I think may have been giving me trouble. Have had one on my FW tank for lord knows how long....would be my suggestion after trying a bunch of new types that are not as good.

That is huge...I wouldn't worry about the Apex though you might need a half a dozen of them. How much does the tank itself weigh?

Man I believe a new tank is the way to go....big plastic brute or Rubbermaid container to hold everything until you get it. No offense but this is more hassle than you need.

Lower the water as suggested...before it fails. Well I guess if you didn't like the tank you can buy a new one. What size is it? My 55 cracked there so found one on craigslist .. guy was 3 blocks away so I lucked out newer tank and minimal cost. Maybe someone here has something?
