According to randy, if you go through 1dkh of alk per day and you don’t do water change for 1 year, the mag level will drop about 80ppm for the Year. So I am sure you will be fine in the winter :)
I also find it’s unnecessary to measure mag on a regular basis. According to Randy’s article the consumption of mag is negligible. So regular water change will suffice.
I had my Red Sea kit the measurements always exceeded the max level of the kit. BRS recommends aqua forest it worked fine for...
After I remove the caps I threw out most of them but still have some. Let me know if you want some.
Now I always mount sps on a rubble before mounting to the rock work. Make for easy removal. Some do get out of hand after a while.

That's SPS for you. Corals next to each other one is happy the other one is not. Only thing we can do is to keep good parameters and let it adapt. I have some problems earlier in the life of my current tank. Some SPS recovered quickly, some take a year to recover.
On a separate note, I am sure...
I have all my equipment connected through smart plugs so I can remotely shutdown anyone of them thru the app or Alex. I don't really use feed mode but if I do I will program Alexa to do it.
Interesting that the Ecotech pumps, both the return pump and mp40 cannot be shutdown completely whether...
