250 halide, will it be too much for my tank

I have a 36 gallon cube. it's 20x20x20 and i was wondering if a 250 halide will be too much for the tank. i only have softies and zoos for now, don;t want to kill off anything. any thoughts???

I run a 250 mh with 4 39W T5 on a 60 cube ,24x24x24 . Ikeep all sps but have had some softies without an issue. I also have it mounted close,on its legs, to the surface . It might be an issue for you up top if the light is mounted close,on its legs, but you can always raise the light, lower the coral or adjust the hours.

i'll try that, thanks, also was thinking about buying some extra fans from radio shack and putting them in my canopy. They are only 20 bucks and move about 50 cubic feet per minute.

Def not too much, but if your not gonna have sps, why waste the electric, n deal with extra heat?. Unless u already have the 250w id just use a 150w mh or a cheap led unit.

Nick is right if you plan to stay soft,no pun intended, why waste the electric. You would be much happier with t5 s they would also be multi bulb and give you more options to highlight your corals . Or of course leds . What temp is your tank running at . You can alsoput a larger fan blowing on ypur fuge or sump to help temp. You can pick up a regular size fan cheap .
