ok so im setting up a 5.5 gallon for my girlfriend, i have a small in tank skimmer i was using for my quarenteen that i gave to her. I also have a little HOB filter i put on there just for some circulation in it. MY questions are should i keep the little HOB filter on there with some carbon? Also i need lights for it the measurements of the tank are 16x8x10 im looking to have a nem and mabye some softies with a two skunk clowns. Also i need to create water movement in the tank i was thinking of buying this

Would it be too big for the tank? or would a little MJ 400 be a better solution for current? Also do i need a heater because some moron at the fish store said i didnt butim pretty sure i would, the house it always heated and i think it will be ok but now im not sure. Any suggestions welcome thanks!

ever though of partioning one side and doing a all-in-one...1 section for the skimmer and the other for a maxijet

2 clowns and a nem in a 5 gal is alittle jam packed IMO.

as for a heater they make 25watt submersible ones, youll prob. need a chiller first, lights create alot of heat and will overheat such a small tank in no time.

adding a 10gal sump prob. wouldnt be a bad idea, and it will create a great place to put some equipment, like a heater or the HOB w/ carbon.

The tank is up and running now... For the lights i went and got http://www.jtdiscountstore.com/servlet/the-3896/Coralife-MINI-AQUALIGHT-9W/Detail IT seems to do the job good. Theres currentally one skunk clown in there with a RBTA. Also got a korilia nano for flow. Theres also a purple mushroom, green mushroom, and green hairy mushroom. Thinking about getting an additional 5.5g and plumbing it underneath the tank to act as a sump that way I can run a skimmer. The display is too small to have a skimmer and the HOB skimmers are not my favorite lol. Thats really where I am right now. Ive been doing 1gallon water changes about every 5 days or so. Seems to be going good.

I setup a 5.5 gallon and used the marineland 10 watt nano heater and right now my tank is at 75.5 and the room temp is 69. The light im using is a reg florecent. with a custom made plexi top
