Im looking at buying the extreme typhoon III 150 gpd unit , it looks like an outrageous deal. Does anyone have this unit or a different unit from AWI ? Please tell me your thoughts.. thanks

I have the typhoon III and really recommend the unit. It's survived moving from Utah, to Mississippi, and to New Jersey without damage as well.

Loking at getting that unit myself, they have a special on them right now. how do you's think it compares to the spectrapure? all the units are basically the same it just depends what filters your runnin in them right?

I have had the extreme a little over a year and I have made a LOT of water with it. I have well water and had to get a booster pump, so I liked the fact that the extreme has a pressure gauge and it is so nice to keep track of the tds with the dual meter. The tds alarm is not audible, however it automatically flashes red if it needs your attention. and as stated earlier the fast flush and the DI bypass are great to add life to the membrane.

I also wanted to state that their customer service has been great. I had a defective tds meter and they sent one out the same day I notified them. I just found out that I had a bad batch of DI resin. (I changed the cartridge and used it up overnight!While the previous 2 lasted me months.) I just received the e-mail that they are going to replace it for me. I have had a few questions along the way over the years and they have always gotten back to me within a day via e-mail. My prior RODI was their unit also which I had for 7 years that I bought used, used it and resold it to a member here who is still using it. I just wanted all the bells and whistles when I upgraded my system so I bought the new one. I would definitely recommend the unit.

The spectrapure comes with a better membrane, but it is typically way overpriced. I am glad I got the AWI one and am getting ready for my first filter change.
