Algae Identification & Methods to Remove

Good evening all,

I feel like I have green turf algae or bryopsis. It comes and goes, I constantly remove via hand and during water changes - scrubbing rocks with a toothbrush and manually with fingers.

I am at my wits end as I want it gone, it's growing on frag plugs again and preventing growth.

Do you think flucanazole will flush it out? I have used this before for bryopsis in another tank with great success, just want to make sure it won't be a bad idea.

did you try peroxide on the item(s) in question? I had bryopsis on a zoa frag and it spread to the adjust live rock. I used Kent Tech M Mag and it killed the bryopis on the rock.

I've been dealing with hair algae- manual removal- just tried using a peroxide dip- no corals seem to be affected by the dip- will see how effective it is

I just took from time of initial post till now manually removing all hair algae from plugs by hand and with a tooth brush.

I have tried peroxide locally, but it just keeps coming back, I think I have to bring in some big guns like reefflux.

I am nervous about a foxface, but a sea slug... maybe.

That nutrient in the water needs somewhere to go, or it will grow algae.

Use a nutrient export method that will compete with the algae the algae will be gone over time.
