I, not too recently got turned onto cigars. Honestly I enjoy them every once in while.
(I have a nice drink in hand and a nice Joya De Nicaragua right now.)

I tried a CAO America a while back and that became my favorite. Since then I have a humidor with several
CAO's, Ashtons, Turiano's, Montecristo and Cohiba's straight from Dominican Republic.

Anyone else enjoy a nice cigar? If so, which ones do you prefer?

I don't get around to smoking 'em as often as I'd like but when I do, here are a few of my fav's:
  • Drew Estates Acid - All good, but Blondie and Roam are my favorites
  • Ashton VSG's
  • REAL Cohiba's - not the "hey look a Cohiba for $9.00!" Cohiba's
  • Romeo & Juliet
  • La Gloria Cubano (Cheap but really good)

Apart from the Drew Estates, which are sized according to flavor, I usually only buy churchill's.

HERE is a pretty good online place to get good quality cigars at a descent price. They generally arrive in a day or two and are in great shape.

Sweet. I've seen the Acid's around alot. Never picked one up. I'll stop in JR when I go pickup my tank from AO and grab a couple.

Drew Estates are cured with oils (like Chrism oils if you happen to remember your Baptism!). A good shop will bag them separately from the rest of the cigars you buy. Be prepared for a different but nice type of smell and a great taste.

That's great. I could definitely use something different. These will be great additions in my humidor. I need to fill some space.

John, I know what you mean about the cohiba's I see them at every little smoke shop and gas station I pass by. I'm not 100% if mine are even authentic, but they are really straight from D.R. My dad brought me a box on his last visit. Hopefully he'll bring me some more.

Two really easy ways to tell if a Cohiba are real are:

  • On real ones, there are EXACTLY 3 rows of dots equally spaced above the word "Cohiba" on the label. Fakes will either have the third row cut-off by the text box with Cohiba in it or you'll see the slightest hint of a fourth row. Really cheap ones will have rows of boxes that aren't parallel to the Cohiba text box. AVOID THEM!
  • The words "Cohiba" will have a metalic/reflective look to it. Fakes will just be a flat gold color.

There are a few other ways to tell (like the font style and weight of the words "Habana Cuba") but those are about the easiest.

Mine have the stars but the lettering is flat black. Underneath the Cohiba they just say Dominican Republic.
Guess they're authentic fakes??...lol

LOL! I guess some of them have black text! My memory must really have been slipping because it looks like it's only 2 rows of dots above Cohiba.

Yeah, those resort Cuban's are slightly less Cuban than me and I'm full blood Italian!

I ran through some more of those examples and did find the ones with 3 rows, so I guess it could be one or the other. It looks like the gold font is 3 lines and black font is 2.

Lol...I'm going to see if there are other bands where my old man picked these up. I'll ring him up tomorrow.
I remember last time I was there, there were small shops and tourist shops full of them.
I'll stick with my CAO's and other ones. Those cohiba's are really fillers for my humidor.

My favorite cigar: Fuente Fuente Opus X

Currently in my humidor: Cohibas and Romeo & Juliets from C**a. A little dried out unfortunately.

Anyone want to trade frags for cigars?

I have a good friend who gets himself an Opus X when he's having a good day.
Always tells me that I need to try it.

I've tried a lot of cigars, including Cubans, and eventually had to admit I like a mild cigar. I tend to stick with various Macanudos, Dunhills, or Royal Jamaicas for my humidor.
I used to get the La Gloria Cubana cigars at the factory, when the factory was in Little Havana in Miami. They were great (but strong!). I don't think they're made there anymore.
+1 for the ACID.

LOL. That reminds me of a day I was golfing with a friends father. I was looking for a cigar and he said "Brien has some Garcia Vega's here. Do they go bad." My response . . . "No, they don't go bad. They start out bad".

Yeah Lew Rothman, who is Mr. JR Tobacco, used to sell some bad cheap cigars in his catalog, which he recommended you keep on hand to give to the habitual cigar moochers (Hey, got another one of those?)

I know I should be better but I spend about 3-4 nights every week in a cigar bar. That is the only way to keep sane while traveling 3-4 days a week each week.

Anyway....... My newest favorites is the christoph cigars. I am having trouble finding the link to the website right now but I a copule boxes of them at my favorite cigar bar.
