Aquarium Mud - should it be use it??

Can any tell me do they use aquarium mud (Walt Smiths FIJI MUD) in their tanks? Also if so what advatages does it have? Is the product worth using??

Also how do you apply it if you do not have a refugium tank.

as far as I know, they should be used in a refugium or at least in the slowest part of your sump. They benefit your tank supposedly by leaching out trace elements that one can get anyway by doing water changes and supplementation. Sue Truett has this type of system, she was featured in Mike Palletta's book Ultimate Marine Aquariums, and is a moderator @ clamsdirect.com. She has a sweet system, primarily SPS and clams.

If you don't have a fuge to use it in, you might be able to get away using the mud by placing a few pounds in a cut 2 liter soda bottle and placing it in your sump if you have one. Just cut enough of the top so that water slowly flows above and through it. You also now have a perfect spot to plant a mangrove plant :)
