Aquashella aquarium expo?

I saw an advertisement for Aquashella aquarium expo this weekend in Edison. Any body attend previous years or planning to go? Trying to decide if it is worth the drive and $30 admission. Thoughts?

This is the first time they’re having it out here. Usually it’s in Texas and Florida I believe, should be a fun one. Not sure if it’ll be any bigger than Reefapalooza

Ill be going on Sunday. They will have freshwater and saltwater. Always interesting when they have both.

These shows are getting way over priced in my opinion. Was considering going on Sunday but at $30 pre-order and $37 at the door I will find something better to do that day.

We are going to try and make it on Saturday, interesting line up of vendors and speakers. The early bird tikets are 30, the general are 25.

I grabbed a small blueberries torch from Rosas for $35. Was super crowded, they needed better crowd control. Line was long to get in with early bird. Got there 10:45, got in 11:30ish

So I've been hearing day 1 was a mess. Had to do more with people that were buying tickets at the door mixed with people who had tickets. Day 2 was fine. I got there around 1 and line moved fast. Only took about 5 minutes. Picked up a few acro frags. Spent most of the time in the freshwater sections because they had so much stuff I've never seen before. It was a really fun and interesting show since its mixed, even had reptiles and other stuff. I'd definitely go again.

Day 1 was a huge mess. Website wasn't working to buy tickets (had to buy the more expensive ticket), line was crazy long as they had a hard time working scanners. Show itself I did not enjoy, mixing salt, fresh and reptile into one expo creates huge crowds of people just looking / talking. Spent 10 minutes waiting to ask Hikari a question while he was talking about fresh-water food. I won't be attending again.

Maybe next time I can make it. I didn't go mainly because I would by stuff but am going on vacation soon. I hate to add stuff and not able to monitor.

I just built a cage for my Elegance coral; all closed up and think puffer is eating it. Will see what happens with it.

Picked up these broken frags of non-photosynthetic gorgonians… mounted them last night

I went because I need a break. Reef stuff nowhere near the quality of reefapalloza. I have a couple of freshwater tanks now. It's ok not great. I think visiting Disc Madness or Absolutely Fish will give you a lot more choices/quality and in some cases better prices.

I went Saturday around 11. Madness to get in. Was crowded and they could've used more of the expo space. Ended up getting a blueberries torch from Rosas booth for 35. I do prefer Jersey Corals or Sea Level shops better 100%. Less people mainly and can talk at a normal along with prices are better.

Logistically Saturday was a mess, they had no idea how to work a line or a crowd. We were there with the baby and so where a ton of other people with small children and the line was all outside and it was hot. They didn't prescan anyone before the show started and it looked like they had maybe 1-2 people scanning tickets for the early bird entry. It took us about an hour to get in and that was only because someone took mercy on my wife and baby and let us in early. I think they started just waving people in at that point because of how nuts it was. Once inside it was crowded and the saltwater section was smaller, I understand it wasn't all saltwater but you could basically see everything in about 30 mins. We hung for a little while and bought some stuff, a lot of the same vendors as RAP, but some different ones. Once the 1 pm crowd came in, it was too much and we left. As it stands now we would not go back if they come back next year. RAP is so much better run, and has so much more to offer to the saltwater crowd, if you want to go to a "big" show, RAP is the way to go.
