Sorry for the nubie question. I just got my first cap frag and I put it in the middle of my tank not too high not to low. I have 2 t-5s 1 tru blue 1 50-50 that run from 7am-10pm and 2 400watt m/h that run from 4pm-9:30pm. Is it safe to have in the middle under moderate flow. Also should I glue this down like others or just let it grow? This is a 90 gallon

you should be able to place it anywhere except right up under the halides they are a little on the bright side for that coral but shouldn't be a problem i have 5 caps have them under 2 150 and 4 t-5 ati bulbs setup and they are doing great they are about mid level in the tank so you should be fine just don't put them up that high in the tank cause they will probably not agree with the 2 400 watt halides what are the tank dimensions ?
you should be able to place it anywhere except right up under the halides they are a little on the bright side for that coral but shouldn't be a problem i have 5 caps have them under 2 150 and 4 t-5 ati bulbs setup and they are doing great they are about mid level in the tank so you should be fine just don't put them up that high in the tank cause they will probably not agree with the 2 400 watt halides what are the tank dimensions ?i think its good practice to always start a coral down low as possible. gradually move it up. you want to give the coral enough time to adjust to your specific lighting. otherwise you risk shocking the coral which may cause it to bleach on you. i don't think its worth the risk. start it out low and move it up little by little every few days. you are running very intense lighting. that's what i would recommend.
Where you got it and the light that it was under must be taken into consideration when determining placement in your tank. Was it the same intensity? Same tank depth? If it was under less light then you will need to take that into consideration and maybe find a shady area to place it.
Montipora (encrusting, cap and digi) tend to best in less light, though it can be acclimated slowly to more.
