Carpet surfing fish the big conspiracy

Alright boys and girls time to pull up to the computer with a nice drink and adjust the tin foil on your head, because it is conspiracy theory time. We just found our dracula goby carpet surfing, he joins our blue spotted jawfish in heaven as our other carpet surfing fish. Also we had a Grade A picasso get sucked into a powerhead. Does anyone see the similarities between these three fish? If you guessed they all cost more than $100 then you sir/madam are correct. It then all became so clear to me fish stores are genetically breeding expensive fish to be really really stupid. This way the aquarist feels like they did something wrong and will go out and buy the fish again therefore spending more money. We have had all sorts of cheap fish and never have had any problems with them. Our othe $25 goby is doing just fine, he wouldn't jump if you drained the tank and set it on fire.

Now for you people who doubt my theory, do you really believe big fish? Does a pearly headed jawfish jump? No. Regular clowns can just swim away from a powerhead, but no not the bastard of science picasso clown. Others will say that the more delicate and rare fish are more expensive and harder to keep, but I say why? They are keeping them from us to breed them dumber to keep us shelling out cash. I say we expose them for who they are, if they faked the moon landing they can keep us all buying expensive fish. If you flat out deny this they just got to you first.

\please don't take this to seriously I am just trying to keep the spirit us after losing a $130 fish to carpet surfing.

Your onto something ! My picasso clowns all jumped,3 to date . My bluespots also jumped, 2 to date . My pearlies never jumped and my clowns ,perc-black have not jumped .
Now that your onto them lets see there next move !

so sorry to hear. ::)

Just so you know - stupidity also impacts $30 fish. I had a pearly that would keep hitting the cover in the QT. I didn't want to separate the two pearlys and decided to chance it in the big tank (with sand/places to hide, etc). He decided surfing was better. ::)

Of course the new $20 pearly (that took the old one's place) never went to QT and promptly parked itself 3" away from the established pearly.

Again - sorry to hear the news. I was in the store later that day too and wil told me about the drac goby pick up. Ugh. :'(

yea that stinks. sorry for your loss.its funny but whenever I see these fish they are usually kept in a cup at the bottom of the tank. that tells me something right there.

We were quite upset with the whole thing last night, now we are debating to add another goby (maybe a yasha) or to just leave it alone and listen to what our tank is telling us.

THAT does suck sorry i had 6 line wrasse and my banded cat shark went carpet surfing was reall upset about the shark had the egg for over a month and had him for about 5-6 weeks before he jumped

 We landed on the moon?? ;D

Really though, sorry to hear about your dracula thinking he could turn into a bat. You have a point though. It does seem that the expensive ones take the leap before the cheap ones.

I think the cheap fish are jealous and are killing off the expensive fish and if your not careful you might end up with a fish head in your bed.

I just had a Long Fin Wrasse Carpet surf on me yesterday, it did it twice, first time I was there to save him, but second time he planned out the date and time when I wouldn't be home to save him.

Also had a Green Grass Wrasse carpet surf as well..

Is my water quality so bad that they would rather kill themselves instead of live? :(

I think I should try changing salts, everything was going good until I started using Oceanic Salt. lol Even though it's not the reason, it is in my mind!

I got three new fish .... 4 line wrasse and a pair of shark nosed gobbies.
I was torn about buying any new fish but decided to go ahead.
Sure enough I add three and my bicolor pseudocromis disappears....(I doubt he jumped or anyone killed the mean little bugger) and one of the gobbies jumped.
Add 3 subtract 2...makes you wonder if there is a conspiracy.
