cheato near heater

i want to run some chaeto in my biocube. i have 3 sections in the back.

section 1 is my heater, section 2 is my intank filter tray (no additional room in that) and section 3 is my pump.

i dont know how good it would do near the heater or the pump. i think the pump section is a bad idea because it could get pulled into the pump and destroy it and the pump.

the only real place left is in section 1 with the heater. would the chaeto do ok sitting on the heater, and would the heater be OK?

I don't have a small tank like that but in my sump i had my chaeto with my heater for a while - didn't seem to impact the chaeto at all.

Can you move the heater in with the pump?

I had some problems with the cheato going into the pump as pieces break off just a heads up.

the heater is too long, it wont fit

I have had a heater in my refugium for years that contains cheato and comes in contact with the heater. No problems. Realize that the fuge is 25gal so it's not like the cheato is compacted tightly around the heater. I doubt you should have any issues with it though unless the cheato gets so thick not enough water surrounds the heater. In which case you would know it's time to harvest a little.
