Closed loop in an overflow???

Got this 70 gallon last night for a great price....am planning on doing a species tank in the near future.

The owner before the person I got the tank from somehow set up the overflow for a closed loop as well as an overflow and it looks like crap.

Would really like to make it look nice as well as work...the premise is good but the plumbing just stinks.

Took out the megaflow kit so you could see the pluming of the loop better.

Any suggestions would be great.

Would have been better if they had just drilled the glass but I guess drilling an oceanic tank is not an easy thing.

Yeah if you can get it to work use it. Or do away with the external pump and put a small mag or powerhead in the overflow and connect it to the outputs with a Y

That is probably a better idea.

I don't think he would be able to fit a small mag or powerhead down in the overflow box when he puts the Megaflow kit back in. It looks kind of tight in there even without the durso pipe and/or return pipe.

I think I have an idea, but can you show a pic with the Megaflow piping installed with the closed loop? I need to see how much room you will have in there to mod the CL piping.
