Colt Coral Question

My friend just fragged me a nice piece of a colt coral lastnight, and i was wondering how long it would take to attach itself to a piece of rock? I put the cut side on a piece of rock, and used a rubber band to hold it there and placed it on the bottom of the tank. this thing is huge ;D

thanks for any info

It does take about 10days to start attaching, just make sure the rubber band doesn't get to tight as it expands. You could wedge it between two rocks, or a little bit of glue around the part that attaches to the rock. Just give it time and it will work. I do it like that all the time.

Colt corals tend to throw a lot of slime, which makes the difficult to attach with the usual glues, or hold by using a rubberband or wedging it with rocks.

If those methods don't work for you use the plastic toothpick method. Get some plastic toothpicks, and push one through the base of the colt coral. The use a rubberband or two to hold the toothpick to a piece of LR or mounting plug.

As pointed out by others, it takes about 10 days for the coral to anchor. At that point you can remove the rubberband and remove the toothpick.
