Concern with my Merulina Coral

I am having trouble finding out a lot about this merulina coral I bought a few months ago. I am concerned about the dark edges on the bottom two edges and the top parts rising up as you can see in the picture. The tops parts bother me because they look like a different coral. It doesn't seem to be advancing into the coral but the coral has been bleaching a little but it was not under a lot of light prior to my tank. I have been toying with the idea of removing the black edges and those top pieces. Underneath it seems to be ok until those edges. Perhaps they were under sand and died. What does everyone else think?

The coral is orange with green valleys to it. I would love to get more info on this coral. So far what I have found has been very basic information.

Thanks!

Sorry about the bad cellphone pic.

So nobody has any opinions? I find that hard to believe. I also noticed that the back pieces have little green grass like things on them. Are these possibly the feeding tentacles and if so should I not cut off the back piece?

Looks like a different coral in parts but I don't really have any idea abou this coral.....are there any other LPS that could be stinging it?

That is what I was thinking, but underneath it looks like one coral. I thought it is an SPS thought. There isn't anything near it that would sting it. It was this was when I got it in an attempt to rescue it from a tank with no more than 100 watts on it.

I looked at those back pieces yesterday and they are starting to get some color to them. It is like a reddish color. The green grass things def. are the tentacles because they are going in and out of the coral over the course of the day. I guess I will just wait and see what happens. If the black goes into the coral more what is the best way to cut it? I haven't had anything to frag yet so I don't really know the drill.

That is pretty interesting ... I am sorry to say I have not a clue, I have never fragged anything like that.
