Re: coralline algae losing color

kh/alk is 8.0 maybe low to some but right on with the salifert test kit and cal is 450 which was at 500 2 weeks ago and i did a good water change with red sea coral pro and it brought it down using only 1.10 of salt that i added using a refractometer to measure saltinity so i dont know like i said its just on one piece of rock nothing else so maybe its just time for it to go and new coraline comes in on top of that who knows thanks

don't drip for any additives all i use is the red sea coral pro salt to get my levels were they need to be then pre-mix in a 10 gallon bucket so we'll see what happens just thing it went from 500 to 450 very sharply so who knows

When coralline algae "blooms" in my tank, the new patches turn white and slowly turn purple in a week or so. Its been a few days since you posted, is it turning purple again or is it in fact dead?

It could be from the new bulbs. Sometimes the new intensity will bleach the coralline a little. It looks healthy just a little faded.
