Corals for Nano?

Hey guys I have a 24 gallon nano DX and want to to put corals in it. In another higher lighting tank I have about 12 frags of diff zoos, a kenya tree, some mushrooms, candy cane, neon green tumpet, frogspawn, paly, and possibly a few others. The lighting on the DX is 2 36 watt PCs for those of you that might not know off the top of your head. Can I keep all of these in my new tank? If not all, which ones? Also, can I keep chalices, favias and acans? Thanks

I think you can keep those. The more important thing is water chemistry. I was looking at a guys tank yesterday who had a whole lot of everything in a 10 gallon with a 9 watt 10k bulb and a 9 watt actinic bulb. (coralife mini) He had montis, acros, and other "high" light corals. I think with the wattage you have you should be ok. I would start with easier stuff first though to make it easier on the wallet.

In my 23g I have PC lighting and have no problems with zoos and mushrooms. I have not tried other softies as they are not to my taste. I also keep some LPS, acans, trumpets, chalices and a duncan. You might not get the same growth out of them as under higher lighting but they still do well. My duncan and trumpets have created new heads and I have one new head on an acan so they are doing well, but not the explosive growth we get under the T5s and MH.

You can keep just about everything....make sure you put any higher light stuff up higher. I had some LPS that did better there then under T5.

Just follow the suggestions below and you will be fine.

I have pretty much everything you described in my 24 DX, although I havent tried SPS. All seem to be doing well, acans and candy canes extend their tentacles all the time. Growth is slower with my zoos, but the teal palys have taken off. Id say 20 percent growth in 6 weeks, about 15-20 new polyps, most are a quarter sized. I also run 1 true actinic and a 50/50 bulb. It was a recent switch, so Ill see how it goes, but it helps alot with making to corals brighten up!

Just make sure that whatever you decide to add to the tank are not prone to weed like growth . Some mushrooms,kenya tree,xenia,etc. will quickly take over the smaller space .
You will also be suprised how different zoa's will morph colors under the new lighting.

Oh i know, I bought a large frag of about 50 green center/brown rimmed zoas and one half became a bright neon green the other has a blue eye now. I fragged them separately and plan on selling the blueish one.
