So, latest research on COVID is out and there’s a few easy things to do to help prevent getting it (in conjunction with masking and distancing) and a few journals are reporting successful symptom reduction.
As a doc, like reading through this stuff and keeping up to date. Read through a number of papers and studies yesterday and today, here’s the take away If anyone is interested.

To help prevent contagion, and for general antiviral health daily:
A multivitamin with 2mcg of copper, 12-15mc zinc, and magnesium, plus
Vitamin D 4,000 IU
Vitamin C 1,000-2,000mg
Vitamin B multi (with B12 if possible)

If infected, add/modify:
Up Vitamin D to 60,000 per day for 3 days, then back down to 4,000 per day (some research showing benefit up to 100,000 for 7 days)
Up Magnesium to 150mg total daily
Up Zinc to 50mg daily
Add Melatonin 3mg 3x/day
Add Vitamin K1, K2
Add Quercetin 250mg 2x /day OR Green Tea Extract 800-1000mg
and ask MD about Invermectin 12-18mg, 2 dose (take one, then second 48 hours later)

If infected, additional therapy:
Netti pot with 1% baby shampoo has recently shown to reduce nasal viral particles by 99% after 2 mins (pot with saline has shown as ineffective).
Listerine has shown to clear throat and nasal membrane particles by 99.99% over 30 secs.

Hope this is informative. Can link refs if anyone wants em, though some are boring, long-winded med papers.

Why this combo is effective:
D has anti-viral properties, most people are very deficient in winter, the more severe cases are being reported as D, Zn, and/or Mg deficient with multiple deficiencies related to higher percentage of death.
C kills free radicals and boosts immunity.
B is a building block for blood and immune cells, as is K.
Magnesium supports T (virus killer) cells and cytokines, most folks are deficient.
Zinc and Copper kill viruses, but need to get in.
Quercetin and/or Green tea (which contains ECGC) get Zinc and Copper through cell wall.
Melatonin has diminished sickness time by up to 50%, they’re trying to figure out why.
Invermectin is looking great as a safe and very effective COVID treatment.

Yep. It won’t reduce anything in the blood, but it can decrease further viral loading from throat and post sinus mucosa if you’re infected.

Sounds like these studies were performed by the health food and suplement industry. Just like chiropractors claim they can prevent people from getting covid by adjusting your back.

Ha! You’re right about chiropractors, I know a lot of them.
And I am one :)
But I’ll put that adjustment junk to bed.
I can help you with pain, but there is no way in heck I’m adjusting away a virus, or affecting it in the least.
And I’m also fully immunized, as are my kids, and I have my first covid shot.
We’re not all the same ;)

But the info is from a few solid medical sources, including a few papers from the Lancet and the NEJoM. Linked a few of the papers I was reading in a post a few down.
I’m from a non-traditional chiro education that stresses evidence based medicine.

This is the original 2010 study on Zinc role in RNA based coronaviruses...

Lmao...Mark we gotta get them pesky chiropractors!

I was covering an office 2 weeks back when a guy comes in with a bad hip, wants me to fix it.
We took an x-ray and I told the guy he had bone on bone osteoarthritis and there wasn't a thing I could do to fix it. I told him to call his insurance and find a good orthopedic surgeon, gave him a copy of his films, and sent him on his way.
The chiro owner was pissed on his return that I didnt try to set the guy up for a treatment plan for the hip or sell him any adjuncts like cbd gummies.

Like I said, I know a lot of em. Someday I’ll tell of the chiro who pulled crystals out of his pocket. I literally walked out of the office without a word to him.

never knew you were a chiropractor Mark, might have to look you up when I get my vaccine shots. been trying to look up a chiro since last year after I had a weird thing happen to my shoulder. eventually went away but I always felt like it would be good to visit a chiro just to make sure everything is all good.

Funny you say that about chiropractors. I was seeing one back in the early 2000s. I had my regular scheduled appointment on a Wednesday, but got sick. Sore throat and cough. I called and asked to cancel because I was sick. He said if I was up to it he would like to keep the appt. He did the adjustments, then some adjustments on my neck area and so pressure points on my face and neck.
I never ended up at the surgi med walk in, because it felt better and got better.
So anything is possible.

Viruses are the cause of most sore throats and coughs. Adjustments don't cure viruses but time (and our immune system) generally does. Temporal correlation isn't causality.

Hey Mark! I certainly was not trying to lump all chiropracors into one group. it's just that I know a few, and one in paticular that thinks he is the 2nd comming of Christ. Not only does he think he can prevent covid, he thinks he can cure it. I have a spine that looks like a train wreck and my chiro helps me a lot. As far as the vitamin studies. I just think there is far to much money to be made on this whole covid thing to not question everything you hear. Just look at all the comercials you hear now on radio and tv. Everybody is pushing there product claiming it prevents covid. From vitamins, cbd, hand sanitizers, air duct cleaning, and the cheap little air purifiers that you get a free set of steak knifes when you purchase one.

Maybe, just maybe he was able to adjust things so that the post nasal drip stopped? Just maybe? Not sure...
Was NOT me believeing it would help, thats for sure. Barely thought Chiro was above VooDoo at the time but had an S-I joint that would lock up and was a simple twist and push and bamm. Unlocked! SO yes, had its place.

Thanks Mark. Doug and I increased our Vitamin C and D intake about 6 months ago, when we read articles on COVID. Will have to add a B vitamin into our pill box. ;)

And I agree that not all chiropractors are the same. When I was pregnant with our first child, who is going to be 39 this year, I started hearing a noise in my head. Everyone thought I was going crazy. It got louder and louder, until the point that Doug could hear it when he put his head close to mine. Went to doctor after doctor, who finally decided they wanted to do exploratory brain surgery. WOW! A friend recommended a chiropractor who on the first visit got it to stop for 2 hours. Turns out the pregnancy caused a bone in my hip to move, which caused bones all the way up to my ear to shift. A bone in my ear was pressing on a blood vessel. So what I was hearing was the blood pooling and then rushing through the vessel. Kept going back and when eventually everything was in the right position and it stopped. ;)

So what do traditional chiro educations say about evidence-based medicine? :)

What's your take on chiropractors as PCPs?

Chiros come in two forms. In the profession we call ourselves 'straights' or 'mixers'.

'Straight' schools like Palmer teach a lot of chiropractic philosophy, including following the original doctrine of DD Palmer that all the body needs is adjusting and it is an 'all cure'. These are the chiros that tell you they can prevent or cure CoVid and many feel that the power of nature, or God if you will, can be manipulated through their hands. They also tend to focus on traditional adjusting techniques.

'Mixer' scholls like New York Chiro cut back dramatically on the philosophy and substitute medicine. Mixers also take numerous chiropractic techniques and steal a bit from this, and a bit from that, to make a more varied 'adjustment toolbox'.
As a 4 year postgrad I had to fully dissect 3 cadavers, got licensed in phlebotomy and radiology (and, oddly enough, prostate examination (and we used mannequins, not each other)), and had tons of classes in pathophysiology, neurology, orthopedic pathology, public health, biochem, etc..

I'm a mixer. I'm not saying 'straights' don't have sciences under their belts, they do, they just focus a lot more on philosophy and 'universal' or 'natural' healing.
Along with adjusting, if needed I'm more prone to send you out for labs, take a film, perform an EMG, or refer you to a specialist. A 'straight' will most likely just adjust.

In the end, I look at myself as a musculoskeletal engineer. If it aint working mechanically I can help make it work again. Along with that I have a good dose of diagnostic knowledge, and skills like advanced neurology and electromyography quals, so I know when things are serious enough that you should be somewhere else and am happy to realize chiropractic's limitations.

Per being a primary... DC (chiropractors) will have a tough time becoming primary docs until they get their act together and start working a a single unified profession imho. Some I feel (and in modesty, I include myself) would make good, or great PCPs. Some, like the guy with the crystals, or the guy I knew in Rochester who was channeling the 'Energy of the Universe' through his hands... not so much.
We've had the opportunity before, twice, but when medical regulators ask 10 chiropractors what they do, they get 10 different answers.
