Here is definately one for the record book. And one for the "Unbelievable" book, as well. Let me first set up the scene. I feed my fish from a small "Dixie" clear condiment cup. I put the food in the cup with some salt water from the tank and pour it into the tank to feed. If and when I have leftover food, I just put the lid onto the cup and put it into the refridgerator until the next feed.
Last night, I went to the fridge, took out the cup which had some leftover Full-Spectrum Food. The cup was approx. 50% filled with water. When I went to the tank I decided to "dip" one side of the cup into the water to fill the cup with some more water. That fast one of my Green Chromis actually swam (swum ?) into the cup. I was amazed. I lifted the cup to look at him flipping and flopping around in the cup and showed my wife. After no longer than 8 seconds, I dumped the whole cup of food, water and now fish back into the tank. The fish was dead!!! If you can believe it! He really was dead. He just floated around the tank not moving so much as one fin. He did appear to gasp 2 or 3 times, but simply just floated away until he finally became stuch to the Koralia power head. Ultimately, and unfortunately I had no other choice but to flush this poor guy down the "Pearly Gates of Fish Heaven".
I just thought all of you might be, not just amused, but shocked and now AWARE that fish (saltwater fish at least) are extremely SENSITIVE to COLD, FRIDGED water. The 8 second death is what probably surprised me more than anything.
So........... Ah, never mind!
