Deep Blue Sea T5

The price seems a bit Xtreme for a no-name four bulb T5 fixture. For 300 bucks, on a four foot tank, I’d get two LED fixtures for about the same price.

I can get this new for $100. Just not sure if its a good deal.

Looks pretty nice if a 4 bulb fixture is what you need, and for 100 bucks, that is way you pay for a cheap 2 bulb T5 fixture and that one looks like it has some nice features ... timer and whatnot.

James, what I was thinking. It has one plug and built-in timer which is nice but is that good or bad. I read reviews on the 24" fixture on thereefforum and they were good. Just no info on the 48".

I think they are the company that make the new tanks right? I don't see a difference between 24 and 48 inches as far as features go, besides the obvious 2feet.
:p

Yes, the same company that makes the tanks. I would hope there is no difference.

I just spoke to the guy and here is what is going on.
He bought the fixture in April and had a problem with the led lights.
Brought it back to the store and they replaced the fixture. No box and never been used. Not sure if I can register for the warranty.

Hmm. Hmm..... Well for $90 if you can see the T5 and LED come on, it is still worth it :D LOL

All I have is the guys word. No way to be sure if it was repaired or not.
How would a repair differ from buying a used fixture? Maybe no problems with original owner but you buy it and have problems.

Nice! I think you are set to buy it. Again, $90 with bulbs is NOT a bad deal. Make sure it works when u pick it up....

Good Luck.

For what it's worth, when I talked to him he said he had to come south to get it repaired. Considering his location the only places south of him within a reasonable distance that I know sell that exact fixture is fish factory and hidden reef both in Bristol, PA. Maybe you could call them and see how they handle returns. Or ask him where the light was originally purchased.

Just picked up the fixture. Guy said that original unit had a bad led light and since under warranty requested a new unit. Also, said was purchased at Trop which is nice to know since they are sponsor and well recognized.

T5.jpgHere is pic of the light on the tank. Only thing is the vent/fan are on the sides so placed it on top for now. Barely fits and need to extend the ledge to make it secure or figure something else out. Yes, I have the legs but wife likes the canopy look so need to keep it.
