[flash=200,200]Hey, can anybody tell me why I would need a calcium reactor? Has anybody used one and seen tremendous results? For that matter, with regular water changes my calcium level is usually around 440ppm? So, I should never need a reactor or kalkwasser right?
it depends on what you keep- If you keep high calcium demand corals like SPS and LPS, or mollusks/bivalves especially clams, they will deplete your calcium levels in time. As they get larger, their demand increases. A calcium reactor will help you once you start getting into higher calcium demand corals. Tremendous results? I would say yes, but the constant tweaking in the beginning can be very annoying.
I know of a few members here who don't use a calcium reactor, but they do frequent water changes and dose 2 part.
if your calcium is that high you def dont need a reactor. Not yet anyway. If you have lots of sps as they get bigger you might need one/ might not. I have around 30 pieces of sps from 2" - 6" in my 215 and keep my calcium high enough with big water changes every 5-7 days
