Last night on the way home from work, stopped by the LFS to pick up some salt (Tropic Marin). Didn't think much of it, but when I got home I noticed it had two dates on it. One date was 10-06. Guess that's when it was made. The other date was 3/30/09. Was that an expiration date? Hope I didn't drop a buttload of cash on crappy salt. ???

Wow!!! don't think salt expires but i might be wrong. I'm interested in seeing what others know.
btw, why spend so much more on salt when you can use similar salt with similar result at much lower cost?. Tons of people using other salt and still have nice nice tank. Good luck!

Figured it was all about the same. Guy at LFS said to get the tropic marin. Guess next time I won't listen.
It seems like you are getting worked up for no reason. It will be fine and you will probably go through that whole bucket within a month after setting up your tank anyhow. Some of the more expensive salts are nice because they keep the trace mineral levels where they need to be, they don't leech phosphates, and they settle faster. I wouldn't worry about it.
I got talked into buying sera salt and I have noticed that my coral are really loving it. I haven't had to supplement anything yet and my levels are great. I am just doing 10 gallon water changes weekly with a 90 gallon total system to keep the trace elements replenished and the water clean.
So relax and remember that you will always be "sold" onto something. It will happen everytime you go into a store. At least you got something you needed and its not a crappy salt. That would probably be worse in my opinion.

Since this thread popped back up, just wanted to clarify what I'd learned.
The date on the bucket of which 10/06 was one, I've been told is the date of manufacture.
The other date, 3/30/09 on the sticker was the date it shipped to the store.
So it was totally me getting my panties in a wad over nothing.
