It looks like my brand new AGA 120 gallon tank has a tempered bottom anyone know if the sides are drillable for sure?

Also some solutions for side drilled overflows and returns would be nice. Pictures please. thanks all!

I agree with Nickjr….glass-holes.com….and you need that hyphen. I know I’ve sounded like a salesman for this company, but I’m impressed by the small size, relatively quiet, cost, customer support and the little surprise you receive in the box. We purchased the 1500gph for a 90 gallon tank. Here’s the link in Tale of the Tank of the installation:

Check Post 3 (page 1), and Posts 36&37 (page 3 on my computer):

I finally got around to doing this, ended up drilling both holes with the tank filled since it was an emgency replacement tank. I lowered the water level by half, stored the water in some bins. Built a valley with some duct tape and heavy black bag material. The trick to doing this way is to build the valley/well that catches the water and glass dust right after you start the hole ever so slightly. You want the well to be just under the bottom of the hole when you add water to it 1/4 of your bit is submerged and wetted at all times for the drilling operation.

I had 3 1" bulkheads I bought from AO a while back so I just used two of those and some PVC pipe and fittings I had lying around to make the glassholes.com "like" overflow. I resized and made some teeth on a narrow tupperware that was shaped and sized like a cerial box. If ever I get the urge I'll order a proper black box like the one that comes with the glassholes unit.

The overflow is not bad, my pump is doing around 700gph into the tank I am sure the two bulkheads could handle a lot more. Its pretty quite too. I will make it into more of a durso when I have time. Right now I just have the two bulk heads on their own seperate pipes connnect to the center of tee fittings with top part of the fitting open for air and the bottom going to the sump.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions all.
