Duncan coral URGENT!

I have a frag of this and it has not opened up and bought around 24 hrs ago. Water is in perfect shape. got it checked at lfs. Well it has a few little green dots coming out but it is obviously not open. so here are tank specs:

250 watt power compact 50/50 on a 55 gallon tank

is it not enough lighting?

And he is located at mid level

well every other coral usally opens up that day if not the next not 2 days but u think its is enough light for it?

And i will try spot feeding right now

Thanks

my duncan are in the bottom of the tank. I do not think they require a lot of lighting

Give it some more time Dan. Your water may be perfect but it's still "different". I'd move it down for now.

I have two growing colonies, one on the top of the tank, and one on the bottom, both do equaly well, the only difference is coloring. Mone are under 150watts MH. Try moving yours down for now.

Mine is in the lower middle T5. Growning like crazy actually.
They are maybe the coolest IMO coral to watch feed. So wish you good luck.

Well i dropped it down but hasnt opened and i also directly feed it

But i will be patient and i will wait 2 days then report to see if there is something else i can do

Thanks for the advice

Dan, how's your Duncan doing now? Did you get it from a reliable source? I'm simply asking because Duncans, when happy, will multiply quite rapidly, and many times inexperienced "fraggers" chop their colonies to keep them at a managable size, however, if chopped/fragged the wrong way, many will fail to flourish and will actually perish.

mine is in the parish stage. I am really pissed and cannot believe it died after the money i spent on it. I moved it. Directly fed it and tommarow i am doing a water change and if it doesnt work i am done with it.

I can frag you some for free if you want to try again with guaranteed healthy stock...let me know.

Rod

hmm, do you spot feed them? Should help them out....3 corals are pigs in my tank....Sun coral, duncans( eat the most) and dendro...try to feed them every other day if you can

Dan from what I recall you have PCs? Maybe try moving them up a little? Depending on what tank they came from it could be a drastic light drop, so they might feel very uncomfortable. And on another note, how are those Palys?

The palys are AMAZING thanks SO MUCH!!!!! I did but it is dead by now Just sitting there in a top spot. PM me when your fragging cuz i love those!
