Truthfully i would wait for someone to chime in who knows more than i do.
On second thought...try it and see. Get like a 10 or 15 dollar acro frag off of someone and see what happens. If you lose it you're only out a few bucks, if it takes off try another frag.

I like that idea i will throw a small frag at the top and if it survives i buy a decent sized piece =). I will learn from mistakes like i usally do

4.8 watt / gallon is way more than you need in a 10 gallon. It is only 12 inch deep and you would do just fine.
However, smaller tanks are always a challenge to maintain since there is less room for error because small changes can cost you dearly.

Thanks thats why i am only buying 20$ fish just incase i screw it up. I am thinking one clown and some small sand resting fish maybe even a firefish and a cleaner shrimp

Yeah 2-3 small fish will def be your limit, unless you have a big sump or somethin, i wouldnt put any more. as for the lighting you can prob keep anything in there

Thanks take a look at my tale of the tank and tell me what you think. I am thinking 2 fish limit and shrimp and some corals =)

I think its plenty of light, as long as its high up. Watts per gal is different when comparing t5, they produce way more light per watt. Make sure its an HO fixture. Also, on the fish, try to keep it smaller. Less bioload the better on a small tank, I think a firefish is too big IMO. Clown goby, catalina goby etc are better choices. I love T5 in general though, many bulb choices! ATI blue plus are a great choice as well.

Id stay away from the catalina. They are a beautiful fish but their temp requirements are much lower than what a reef tank is. They should be kept in 60-70 degree water, Reefs are 78-82. So its not a good mix. If you try one it might be ok but wont last too long. Just a heads up
